CHRISTEL HOUSE TRANSFORMS THE LIVES OF IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD – BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY AND BUILDING SELF-SUFFICIENT, CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF SOCIETY.
Unhappy with the pictures that hang in some of our apartments and, as a way of helping to contribute to the charity we asked the children in the Arts Departments in some of the schools, particularly in South Africa and India, to produce paintings that we could put up in our apartments. Other than size, for ease of transport, we asked simply for the pupils to paint images of Spain and let their imaginations do the rest.
The teachers used the exercise over a period of a year to teach a little more about Spain and the culture as well as to hone their painting skills. In that year they produced over 150 paintings that we purchased and now appear in some of our apartments at Pueblo Evita.
We hope to commission more paintings soon with a brief for images of the Canary Islands so that we can do the same for our complex at Fairways Club.
You will see some of the paintings hanging in the apartments and a little about the painters themselves, we hope that you enjoy them.
